Heroines (and, less often, anti-heroines) are the very stuff of opera. We will take a bird’s-eye view of their trials and tribulations.
Enrolment is best carried out online.
We will study a range of operas from the 17th to the 20th century in which women play a pivotal role. The operas will be shown on DVD and/or CD, with illustrations on the piano.
There will be opportunities for discussion and questions. Learners will be invited to make short (five-minute) presentations from time to time. There is no written work.
