Richmond School of Foundation Studies

The School of Foundation Studies can help you develop skills and knowledge to progress to further education and training, independent living or work. We have great support systems for learners and will make sure you have everything you need to succeed on your chosen course.

We offer Maths and English GCSE classes in the daytime and evening. If you are not ready to enrol for GCSEs, we have courses at all levels that help you to build your skills and progress.

Our ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) are designed for those whose first language is something other than English. If you are settling or living in the UK, or if you want to improve your English to help get a job we can help you. ESOL classes are also offered in the daytime and evening so you can plan your learning around your work and life commitments.

We support Learners with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities. We offer a range of courses in art, performing arts, cookery, retail and sport in our specialist art and theatre facilities. We also provide a supported work enterprise. Support is tailored to each learner’s needs to ensure that you get the right amount of help. The courses listed are subject to possible change but additional courses may be added.

All courses require an interview to ensure you are on the right course for you and the correct level of difficulty. The interview involves a short assessment which will help the teacher decide what level and course suits you best. Sometimes you may be offered a different course than the one you applied for as it could be a better fit for your current level of learning or career aspirations.

We are a friendly team dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. Come along and speak to us about the right course for you.
