To celebrate the New Year and the start of term, RACC is holding Health Week.  Featuring:
•Healthy food recipes and tastings
•Health resources, guidance and advice
•Exercise tasters
•Talks and information from local health organisations


The perfect way to get 2017 off to a healthy start; drop by the College around lunch-time every day for talks and information.

Monday 16th January   

 

ACTIVITY: Pilates for Beginners   9-10am Dance Studio  Cost £7

Please pay at Reception before the beginning of the class             

 

Wellbeing One to One Drop Ins  11-1pm & 1:30 – 4pm in PK 17 FREE

TALK: How to Manage Anxiety, Sleep and Mood 1 – 1:30pm in The Atrium   FREE

A discussion by Karen Spencer including information about the new Walk and Talk Health Walk course

 

ACTIVITY: Health Walk of the Richmond Area 1:30 – 2pm Meet at Reception FREE

A 30 minute accompanied non-strenuous Health Walk around Richmond Green and on to the banks of the River Thames.

 

STALL: NHS Health Checks           10 – 4pm             Atrium  FREE       

The health checks take approximately 20 minutes and measure blood pressure, height, weight, waist and BMI, cholesterol and glucose

 

STALL: Mytime Active                 10 – 4pm              Atrium FREE

Mytime Active have been commissioned by the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames to offer a range of free healthy services for local residents. Services provided include Health Walks, Weight Management, Walking Awayfrom Diabetes


Tuesday 17th January


ACTIVITY Back Care   11 – 12:15  Dance Studio      Cost £9

Please pay at Reception before the beginning of the class. You will learn simple effective exercises for the improvement of mobility and strength in the back, good posture and correct body alignment.


ACTIVITY Pilates & Stretching with Natalie Jones 12:30 – 1:30 Dance Studio   Free 

Using Pilates techniques, Natalie Jones, one of RACC's exercise tutors will take a gentle session of exercise and relaxation. This is an ideal way to get a free taster of the exercise classes on offer at RACC.  

 

ACTIVITY Keep Fit through Music & Dance over 55's 2:15 – 3:45pm Dance Studio   Cost    £11

Please pay at Reception before the beginning of the class          A balanced approach to fitness through exercise in a relaxed atmosphere covering a warm up, pulse raiser, barre work, floor work and cool down to increase confidence in movement, a sense of achievement and feeling of well-being

 

STALL:   Kick iT – the Stop Smoking Service  12 – 2pm      Atrium

Find out information about the free services offered by Kick it in the local area on how to quit smoking. The services include free one to one or group sessions to get you through the difficult initial period and also they give advice on medications which you can get on prescription.


STALL: Richmond Osteopaths  11:30 – 2pm                       Atrium

Located on Golden Court behind House of Fraser, Richmond Osteopaths treat all types of muscle and joint injuries including a wide range of conditions from back problems to everyday aches and pains through to sports injuries, work and stress-related complaints. Wednesday 18th January                                            

 

TALK and Food Tastings: Healthy Salads   12:15 – 1:15   Atrium    FREE

RACC's cookery tutor Mitsu Butler will give short talks on how to prepare delicious, healthy salads and there will be samples to taste. recipe ideas will be available to take with you.

 

TALK: Posture, Core Stability & Workplace Ergonomics  12:30 – 12:50  Atrium     FREE

TALK: The Ageing Process                                                   1 – 1:20pm    Atrium     FREE

Richard Wegryzk, who operates his physiotherapy clinic on Tuesday's and Fridays at RACC will give two short talks on subjects of interest to all. He will be on hand to discuss his work and give advice.

Find out about how to give feedback both good and bad on the health service locally

 

The Educated Palate Café will be supporting Health week by offering Homemade Soup of the Day at £2 and a variety of Healthy Vegetarian Salads for £3.40
